The Art of Intuitive Eating

Apple-Ginger-Lime Blast
Seasonal, juicy-fresh apples are in their prime here in the North, and this juice takes advantage of the bounty. Apple-Ginger-Lime Blast packs a punch from the spicy ginger and the tangy lime juice. It’s a potent, immune boosting, anti-inflammatory drink that will revive the body and clear the mind!

Apple-Ginger-Lime Blast
Ingredients: Serves 2
6 apples
2 limes
1+ inch piece of ginger root

Directions
Rinse ingredients. Scrub ginger root. Peel rind from limes, and cut in half. Cut apples to fit your juicer, and remove the core if it’s moldy. Juice ingredients and drink immediately.

The Little Story: Temple Food is Near!
It’s been slow going and tedious, working with yet more rounds of editing to get our revised and expanded (121 recipes!), 2nd edition of Temple Food ready. This is why we’re late with The Healing Feast.

The 2nd proof that we got last month month was beautiful, but it was still in need of some changes. We lightened all the images because the printing process had darkened them, and changed the text layout to include double columns instead of one large text box so reading will be much easier.

I also decided to make a big structural change, placing the recipes in the middle of the book instead of at the end. This way Temple Food will stay open better when you’re working in the kitchen, reading the recipe and creating a delicious meal.

This changed the page numbering and the Table of Contents, so that had to be adjusted. The text was run through different editing programs that caught a few mistakes in spelling, such as one funny typo about celery: "peed to remove tough strings", instead of "peeled to remove tough strings"!

And, this week, a whole new back cover burst forth and it’s so much better. The new look is mostly visual with hardly any text. This is a one-eighty from before, with one photo and a lot of text. The new back cover tells the story of the book at a glance, so it will be easier for people to "get" the message in a few seconds.

This weekend Rex and I have completed the 3rd proof and it will get sent off to Lightning Source, the print on demand division of Ingram, for printing. We sincerely hope that this will be the final proof! Some of our friends who have seen it are very excited and can’t wait to have their own copy in their hands.

Temple Food is a dream come true for me, a project so close to my heart, and it has taken 3 1/2 years to reach completion. Slow and steady has been the way this book has evolved, and it mirrors changes within myself too. Slow and steady may not bring instant results of gratification, yet it has its advantages. Many of the changes that I’ve mentioned today would not have happened had the book been put into print right away. Like the earth that brings up the bounty at just the right moment, Temple Food has had time to gestate and grow. And because of this, we hope it will nourish and inspire you on all levels of your being!

so seemingly small,
ripple out
to the whole universe

like the sounds
of butterfly wings,
and the clear voice
of the living truth.
