The Art of Intuitive Eating
Cinnamon-Apple Warmed Red Cabbage
When I lived at home, my mother made a fabulous Danish Red Cabbage for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it was always a family favorite. We wanted to create a raw food version of her classic dish, and this is it. Its tangy-sweet and full of crunch and flavor! Warm just a little for a slightly heated raw dish.

Apple Warmed Red Cabbage
Ingredients: Serves 2-4
2 cups red cabbage, finely shredded
1/2 cup leeks, super thinly sliced
1 cup apples, diced
2 tablespoons Spectrum Walnut Oil, or a sweet olive oil
1 tablespoon Juniper Balsamic Vinegar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4-1/2 teaspoon fennel
1 tiny shake clove
Himalayan salt and black pepper to taste

Slice cabbage with a madoline to make easy to chew fine slices. Or cut sliver-thin slices with a good knife.
Sliver-cut leeks, and dice apples.
For a salad, put in a bowl with oil, vinegar, and spices, and mix well.
For a warmed dish, put in a pan with oil, vinegar, and spices.
Warm to desired temperature, stirring continuously.
Dish up into bowls or small plates.
Garnish with a single walnut half.

The Little Story: Resonance
Cabbage Resonance. The word has a lot to do with how we live each day. What do we resonate with? What are we attracted to, and feel an affinity with? Rex and I find that our lives are led by resonance—in love, in finding that which brings us deep and lasting meaning, in the foods we eat, the music we listen to, the movies we watch, and even in the simple day to day activities such as when to make a phone call, or go to the Co-op for produce.

We look for feelings of resonance in everything we do. If it's not there, we aren't motivated. Take this recipe as an example of resonance. To begin with, I resonated with an inner image on how to make it that came in a flash, and I immediately went to work, bringing the recipe idea into manifestation.

Soon the raw ingredients were assembled, and minutes later were warming in a pan. I noted how quickly the color from the cabbage merged into the other ingredients, along with the cinnamon color from the spice. Then came the pleasure of eating a meal, realizing that resonance had become an act of giving back and forth, an actual transference of life energy.

Resonance has played a major role in the creation of Temple Food. We're excited to share a preview of the book so that you may see the major sections, the recipe index, and a few of the painted poems! This will give you a good idea of what the book is about—click on the Temple Food image in the sidebar. We had hoped to have the final proof in our hands for this edition of The Healing Feast, but there were delays in the process. So, once again, if all goes well, we'll be announcing the final product shortly!

Until then, we hope that the beauty of resonance acts and a guide, hour by hour, day by day, and enriches your life in countless ways!
