Our lives,
so seemingly small, ripple out to the whole universe as tiny whispers like the sounds of butterfly wings, and the clear voice of the living truth. -J.L.D. |
Heading into the holidays, and starting the 2nd year of The Healing Feast, we thought it would be fun to put together some suggestions for a variety of meals from the archives.
The soups, salads and entrees can all be interchanged because the great thing about veggie meals is that everything usually goes together beautifully. Try miso soup with pumpkin seed patties or a green salad. Or enjoy some borscht with seed cheese along with one of the seven veggie wraps. Desserts can be eaten for breakfast, and smoothies or a slice of pie make delightful evening snacks. It's all good! We hope you browse through the archived recipes shown below - just click on any picture. And there's a lot more to choose from, with more coming every week. Enjoy! Soups: Invigorating Beet Borscht, Strengthening Miso, Warming Tomato & Carrot Salads: Festive Red Cabbage, Green Feast, Tomato with Seed Cheese, Sprouts with Almonds & Seaweed Entrees: Pumpkin Seed Patties, Living "Pasta", Warmed Marinated Veggies, Tomato & Potato Gumbo Sides: Curl Your Toes Pate, Amazing Wraps, Sesame Carrots with Curry Dipping Sauce, Quick Pickles Desserts: Persimmon Pie, Luscious Smoothies, Banana Ice Cream, Carob Nut Cookies with Toppings A Little Story: A Dream of Abundance! We know that in America it can be a bit of a cliche to talk about abundance at this time of year with celebrations of Thanksgiving under way... yet last night I dreamed of abundance. In the dream I took my Mother to a seminar. As we were seating ourselves in comfy theater chairs in a small amphitheater, floor to ceiling windows flooded the room with light. A woman walked up to us and told me that the speaker had suddenly cancelled, and she asked if I would be their replacement! I agreed and quickly jotted down some notes on the subject from thoughts that were coming through, so I wouldn't be totally at a loss for words once I got on stage. As it so often happens in dreams, things changed, and I never actually gave the talk. Yet in a series of dreams that followed, thoughts about abundance stayed in the background. When I awoke I realized that whether I was experiencing visual, emotional, or physical abundance in the forms of beauty, spirituality, family, or health—or even a lack of something—everything depended on my state of consciousness. Appreciation and gratitude kept my heart open to both giving and receiving the abundance that seemed embedded in every atom. I walked to the window and looked outside. The morning light was luminous, enfolding me in a promise of all that is good. There in the small woods, a carpet of tiny golden leaves lay atop an emerald green knoll beneath the trees, in little mounds of glowing color. It stuck me in that moment that the fabric of life itself is the ultimate state of abundance, creating conditions of bounty, however we choose to be and act in the great dream of life. |
